Description: Restaurants and movies and sports, oh my! This session will explore the benefits of providing programming to integrate international and domestic students within our institutions with a focus on building intercultural competence amongst the student population. The session will introduce UCalgary Meet up, an exciting initiative and innovative program that the University of Calgary piloted in 2017 that provides an opportunity for integration between international and domestic students. The session will speak specifically to the benefits of social programming, as a way to facilitate integration and encourage students to practice and build their intercultural competency skills. Participants will be invited to discuss the programs and initiatives from their own institutions that aid in facilitating integration between international and domestic student populations.
